Dublin 6, €380,000
The current owner of No 53 Gulistan Cottages in Rathmines has transformed the small, dark two-bedroom Victorian cottage into an altogether brighter space. She extended the bathroom, putting in a roof window, and opened up the eaves in the main living/kitchen space, further brightening up the place with two more skylights.
She installed a wood-burning stove in the living room, and then worked off a white palette to create bright and airy rooms. A french door opens from the main bedroom to a tiny back yard.
Life has changed drastically in the past three years and she and her partner have recently had twins, so are moving on to something more substantial.
