Terenure is regarded as an affluent area in Dublin 6W in South Dublin, bordered by the villages of Templeogue, Rathfarnham, and Rathgar. It is well known for its Victorian houses, leafy streets, and wonderful village with a good selection of pubs, restaurants, and independent shops.
It is a very sought-after area due to its proximity to the city centre, just 5km away, local shopping options, and range of local amenities. There is a local Garda station, post office, and butcher. There are several excellent schools in the area, so it is a very popular area for families.
Bushy Park is a huge draw for the area with its 22-hectare of green space with walking paths, a playground, sports pitches, a skateboard, and basketball park. On the weekends it offers the perfect day out with the much loved food market. Close by is Rathfarnham Castle set in a smaller park, with lovely walks, a wooded area, a lake, and a playground.
The area is well served by bus with 15, 15a, 15b, 15d, 16, 49 and 65 all passing through the village. It is also within easy access to the M50.
EDUCATION
There is an excellent selection of good schools, both primary and secondary in the area, including well-established local junior and senior schools in the area. There are seven primary schools in the area and nearby. Presentation, St Joseph’s, Pius X Girls and Boys Schools, Gaelscoil Mologa, Harold’s Cross NS and Rathgar NS. There are also five secondary schools to include Presentation Community School, Terenure College, Our Lady’s, The High School and Stratford College.
SHOP
There are many independent shops in the village including a local butcher, boutique dress shop, charity shop and pharmacy. There is also a Tesco Metro in the village and close by in Rathgar there is a Supervalu. Lidl and Aldi in the village also cater for larger weekly shops. There is also a Tesco in Rathfarnham.
Newly opened Mayfair Eatery has a shop to the front with products from local producers including homewares, health, beauty products and jewellery.

Terenure village is a hub of eateries and pubs with the popular Mayfield, Eaton 6W, Foam Coffeehouse and Vaughan’s Eagle House.
Foam Coffeehouse in a recent addition to the village, serving great coffee, and tasty salads and sandwiches in a trendy setting.
Lovely Food Co is another popular local choice for coffee and healthy lunch and dinner options.
The Corner Bakery serves handmade cakes, cupcakes, and cookies, fresh daily.
Mayfield Eatery is a top place to go in the area, serving good quality breakfast, lunch and dinner and is very popular with locals.
Mario’s offers an extension menu of excellent Italian food in a relaxed atmosphere.
Other great local options include Base Woodfire pizza, Bellagio, and Vermillion.
Popular pubs for residents include Vaughan’s on the corner, right in the village at the crossroads, serving a great Guinness in a traditional pub setting.
Brady’s is a large pub, popular with young and old, serving an extensive drinks and food menu. There is also a cool outdoor space, popular during the summer months.
The Terenure Inn is another quality local pub with a great selection of gin and nice pub grub.
